Meet Mr David Morgan

Mr David J Morgan MB BS FRACS Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

 

Mr David J Morgan is a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon, and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He completed his training in 2003.

He subsequently undertook further training in Canada, including a Clinical Fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery in Vancouver, through the University of British Columbia, to acquire further skills in breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast surgery.

This followed a Fellowship in Craniofacial Trauma and Reconstruction at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, under the auspices of the University of Toronto, where he developed advanced skills in the management of significant facial trauma and its sequelae.

He is currently the Head of the Faciomaxillary Surgery Unit at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and is involved in all aspects of the management of acute facial trauma, the correction of secondary facial deformities, and the ongoing management of congenital craniofacial deformities.

Mr Morgan’s private practice specializes in cosmetic breast surgery (breast reduction – reduction mammaplasty, breast lift – mastopexy, and breast augmentation), breast reconstruction after mastectomy, body contouring surgery (abdominoplasty, liposuction), cosmetic facial surgery, minor hand surgery, and the management of skin cancer and melanoma.

He recently completed his tenure as the National Chairman of the Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the body that oversees the training of future Plastic Surgeons across Australia, after a serving on the Board for a total of 9 years, the maximum period allowed. During this time, he also served on the Board of Surgical Education and Training (BSET) of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

Currently, Mr Morgan is a Council Member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the representative body for specialist plastic surgeons across Australia, and is Chairman of their Cosmetic Surgery Committee, and the Advocacy and External Relations Committee.

He is also an active volunteer for Interplast (Australia and New Zealand), an organization which provides volunteer plastic surgery services to the Pacific and South East Asia. Mr Morgan serves as the country co-ordinator for the Kingdom of Tonga, travelling yearly to that country as part of a team to provide expert plastic surgery services to the local population. He has strengthened his commitment to this organisation by now serving on the Board of Directors of Interplast.

He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), and is an International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
