Mr David Morgan helps to answer common questions about breast augmentation surgery

Many women considering breast implants have many questions before even considering seeing a plastic surgeon. We hope this article will help during your research process!

Who is a candidate for breast augmentation?
The purpose of the cosmetic procedure is often to increase the size of the breasts and to improve their shape. If you feel that your breasts are naturally too small, or lacking in fullness, you may think about undergoing treatment, as the results can go a long way in improving your womanly aesthetics.

A lot of women opt for the surgery after pregnancy or dramatic weight loss, in order to restore the shape and volume of their breasts. In many cases, the procedure is performed to resolve cases where one breast is larger than the other (asymmetry).

How does the procedure work?

Before your surgery begins, you will be given a general anaesthetic, so you won’t feel any pain. Your breasts will be thoroughly cleaned with an antiseptic solution and a local anaesthetic will be administered at the site of surgery. During the procedure, Mr David Morgan will make an incision either in the armpit, the lower part of the breast, or along the edge of the areola. An implant is placed in each breast and adjusted according to the best possible position.

How long does recovery take?

As with any surgery, your recovery will depend on your unique situation. It is quite normal to experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising after the surgery. Mr David Morgan will dress your incision wounds and ensure that your new implants are fully supported. You’ll be prescribed any necessary pain medication to help you manage any discomfort. Within two weeks after surgery, Mr David Morgan will assess your progress and remove any stitches. In most cases, patients are able to resume their normal activities after around two weeks, but it is best to avoid heavy lifting for up to six weeks following the procedure.

What can I expect from breast augmentation?

The breast augmentation procedure is generally very effective and can increase the size of your breasts by one or more bra sizes. Your breasts will also have a more youthful and firm appearance.

It is important that you discuss your expectations with Mr David Morgan before undergoing surgery, so that your results are in line with your personal goals. In your initial consultations, you’ll have the opportunity to raise any concerns and ask any questions you have, while Mr David Morgan will explain exactly what the procedure involves, as well as the benefits, costs, and potential risks.

Remember breast augmentation surgery is a very personal decision. Mr David Morgan is one of the best breast surgeons in Melbourne and is committed to helping you make an informed decision. He will provide you with all the information you need, and ensure you are a suitable candidate for the procedure, before recommending that you consider it as an option.
