Have you ever wondered how popular certain procedures are?
We have compiled a list of the top searched for procedures in Australia using data from a RealSelf study.
Researching plastic surgery procedures can feel isolating at times, particularly if your friends and family have never looked into it. You may find yourself wondering, “am I the only one looking into this?” We can assure you, you are not! The study by RealSelf collected data from 650,000 Australians, of these, 79% were female and 21% were male.
1. Breast augmentation and breast implants
Coming in at number one nationwide was breast augmentation and implants. Breast surgeries are popular for many patients with a range of personal reasons. Some of the determining factors we come across include:
- Desire to increase the size of breasts for a more proportionate and womanly figure
- Mothers wanting to restore the shape and size of breasts post pregnancy
- Patients with development issues
- Restoring breasts after mastectomy due to breast cancer or other illness
2. Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty surgery is the medical term for surgery on the nose and usually involves a straightening and shaping of the nose. Traffic to rhinoplasty pages accounted for 7% of all Australian traffic on RealSelf. This procedure is becoming increasingly popular among our patients as well, as patients are becoming more educated about myths and the stigma is becoming less forceful.

3. Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is designed to reduce the bulk of the lower abdomen resulting in a smoother tummy. This is a popular treatment after pregnancy as excess tissue in the tummy area is extremely common and also after weight loss. The procedure also tightens abdominal muscles creating a more defined waist.

4. Facelift (Meloplasty)
A facelift (Meloplasty) is a common procedure to reduce the signs of ageing in the face and neck. Skin is left tight and smooth, reducing wrinkles and sagging. We are able to reposition and tighten the supporting structures in key areas of the face and neck to maintain the new look as long as possible. Dr Morgan has a special interest in facial surgeries and has extensive experience repairing and rejuvenating facial structures.

5. Mummy Makeover (abdominoplasty & breast surgery)
The popular procedure combines a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and breast surgery for patients post-pregnancy. This combined treatment targets the key areas affected during the pregnancy process, helping mothers to bounce back and restore their bodies to their pre-pregnancy look.
