Cosmetic treatments for men

May 8, 2019 | Body, Cosmetic Surgery, Male Breast Reduction, Non-Surgical Procedures

Cosmetic surgery is rising in popularity and it’s not just for women.

Cosmetic surgery is on the rise. In fact, a recent report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons stated that more than $16.5 billion dollars (USD) were spent on cosmetic surgery and minimally invasive procedures in the United States last year. While women are still more likely to opt for a cosmetic treatment, popularity is rising among men too. Here are some popular treatments that can help men to improve their appearance…

Male breast reduction (Gynaecomastia)

A procedure that works to reduce the size of breasts in men, male breast reduction (gynaecomastia), also helps to enhance the contours of the chest. Men who have excess breast tissue often experience considerable emotional distress and embarrassment. During male breast reduction (gynaecomastia) surgery, excess breast tissue and skin is removed, which flattens the chest and generally improves the shape and proportions of the upper body.

Liposuction

As we age, many of us struggle with stubborn deposits of fat that seem to be resistant to efforts at the gym and a strict diet. If you have noticed pockets of unwanted fat, you might consider a body shaping treatment like liposuction. The procedure is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic treatments in the world and is suitable for a number of areas of the body, including the neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, knees and hips. Men tend to retain skin elasticity for longer than women, and the fat deposits are generally firmer than those in women, which means that the procedure generally works very well for men.

Injectables

The visible signs of ageing, like fine lines and wrinkles, don’t only affect women. Many men notice deep lines developing in the forehead and the area between the eyebrows, while crow’s feet around the eyes are also a common concern. Non-surgical procedures can help to resolve these issues and achieve a more youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers are also an option for men who have noticed very deep wrinkles, especially in the areas around the eyes, mouth and chin. This type of injectable helps to reduce the depth and visibility of lines and restores loss of volume to the skin.

Nose reshaping

Nose reshaping surgery, or rhinoplasty, is a popular procedure and can be performed to improve the shape and size of the nose, as well as to provide relief from breathing and respiratory issues. The surgery can change a number of features of the nose, including the prominence of the bridge, its overall projection and symmetry, and the appearance of the tip. Rhinoplasty is suitable for both men and women and is an effective means of restoring both function and form to the nose.
