3 things you must consider when getting breast implants

Deciding you want to get breast implants can be an easy decision but deciding the type and size often proves much more difficult…

At Renew Plastic Surgery in Melbourne we are pride ourselves on educating our patients and giving them the knowledge they need to choose the perfect breast size and shape for their body. When designing your new breasts we encourage our patients to consider: size, shape and projection. It is also important to realise that everybody is different, so while two implant profiles may be exactly the same, once put into the body of two different people their profile will change. With a particular interest in breast surgery, Dr Morgan has a great deal of knowledge and understanding with implant profiles and can help determine the best shape, size and projection of your implants.

Deciding on the perfect breasts for you will primarily depend on your personal preference and at the end of the day it is your body and you will have the final say.

#1 Shape

Commonly there are two shapes of breasts requested, these include tear drops and round implants. Tear drop implants are often seen as the more natural of the two these implants as they slope downward just like a natural breast would. The only downside to this type of implant is that if the implant happens to rotate while in the breast, the breasts can become distorted. Round implants are circular but flat, they are designed to protrude from the body, making the breasts more projected. While these breasts look less natural they don’t move much which means they will almost always keep their round shape.

#2 Size

It is important to consider the size of your body before choosing the size of your new breasts as cup sizes are very dependent on the body of the woman. During your consultation we will measure your body and your breasts. Making measurements of your breast base width and evaluating your soft tissue envelope will set reasonable limits for implant width.

#3 Projection

Lower Projection: This type of implant is used for women who are broader in the chest and prefer to fill the breasts rather than project them.  These implants give a very natural result.

Moderate Projection: These implants evenly fill and project the breasts, to provide moderate volume distribution around the entire implant.

Complete Projection: This is the most requested implant profile, complete projection adds volume and projection filling of the upper pole of the breast above the nipple.

Extra Full Projection: This implant profile allows us to use a higher volume implant with a narrower base, while producing a less natural look is ideal for women seeking more dramatic fullness.

Deciding on the perfect breasts for you will primarily depend on your personal preference and at the end of the day it is your body and you will have the final say. Here at Renew Plastic Surgery in Melbourne we will listen to your needs and design your implants based on your body and your preference.
